The next day, it’s off to Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe – one of the largest national parks in all of Africa, which makes it a top destination for nature lovers. Hwange is home to a spectacular elephant population along with more than 100 species of mammals and 400 species of birdlife.
Guests experience the thrill of animal sightings on rugged game drives, launched from accommodations at two luxurious tented camps: Bomani Tented Lodge and Nehimba Lodge. Afternoon game drives are often capped off with snacks and sundowner cocktails as you watch the sun slip beyond the horizon – truly memorable.
Your journey wraps up at Gorges Lodge, where you’ll be mesmerized by the mass and force of Victoria Falls – one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
Bomani Tented Lodge
This fabulous lodge is situated on a private concession within the Ngamo Forest, where night drives are a bonus. In addition to morning and afternoon game drives in Hwange National Park, climb into the underground hide at the lodge for up close viewing of animals at the waterhole or join game walks led by licensed guides for another thrilling experience. Activities also include the opportunity to tour a nearby school and village to get a flavor for daily life.
Bomani’s amenities are impressive: a bar, lounge and dining room for guests to gather and share meals; electricity; free WIFI in the main lodge; cell phone reception. Rooms include en suite facilities, a ceiling or standing fan, safe for valuables, portable LED lamp, and mosquito repellant.
Nehimba Lodge
Also located within a private reserve, Nehimba Lodge offers guests a comfortable common area to relax and share meals, overlooking the waterhole where animals gather for their own happy hour. WIFI and a swimming pool are among the camp’s amenities. Rooms include en suite facilities, hairdryer, mosquito nets, bath robes and more.
Along with daily game drives, guests can visit the Nehimba Seeps, Mandavu Dam and Mtoa Ruins.
Gorges Lodge
At the edge of the Batoka Gorge, the main lodge and 10 thatch rooms are set among a beautiful garden with stunning views of the thunderous Zambezi River 200 metres below. Rooms include en suite facilities, stocked mini bar, hairdryer, ceiling fan and more.
During your stay, you’ll take a guided tour of nearby Victoria Falls. Thrill-seekers can arrange rafting, bungee jumping and helicopter rides for additional cost.
